Richard Lowe spent most of his childhood in a grocery store learning how to stock shelves,bag food, and butcher meat, as he was the presumed heir of a multi-generational family business started by Chinese immigrants. However, after graduating from UCLA with a degree in film and TV, he pursued his passion of telling comedic and emotional stories with themes that tie back to his cultural upbringing. As a writer, Richard has written for Walk The Prank on Disney XD and Dr. Ken on ABC. His original pilot, Growing Up Dictator (a comedic look at the childhood of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un), made the 2016 Staffing Survey, a list of the year's best TV staffing samples, and was a finalist (top 5) at the 2016 Austin Film Festival. His pilot Education, Secondary was a semifinalist (top 10) at the 2013 Austin Film Festival. He has also written for the NBC Diversity Scene Showcase and ABC Talent Showcase. He studied improv and sketch with Upright Citizens Brigade and The Pack Theater, performed stand-up at the Hollywood Improv and produced sketch comedy videos on his YouTube channel Aisle Five Comedy He produces and hosts Pulling Your Hair Out, a podcast about the writing process. Prior to becoming a writer, he was an editor, most recentlyworking on The Good Fight for CBS.
