Marc Haimes
writer Kubo and the Two Strings, Nimona, Girl Who Drank the Moon, Untitled Mark Boal Project
Growing up in Bethesda MD, Marc's love of scary books, freaky comics, bad television and great movies propelled him out to Los Angeles… where he tripped and fell into a corporate dream job as a creative executive for Dreamworks Studios. However, in 2011 Marc tore off his tie and folded away his suit in order to stop the endless note-giving and start the endless note-getting. His first spec script, a weird, live-action horror/thriller, was discovered by director, Shannon Tindle, who thought the character work and darker sensibilities made Marc an out-of-the-box fit to write Kubo and the Two Strings for Laika. Which he did. Marc recently finished up a live-action drama based on the Waco, Texas tragedy of 1993 for Annapurna and Oscar winning producer, Mark Boal. His current projects are an adaptation of the brilliant, subversive graphic novel, Nimona, which will be directed by Academy Award winner, Patrick Osborne, and released by Blue Sky Studios at Fox Animation Studios on Valentine's Day, 2020. He is also collaborating again with writer/director Shannon Tindle on an original comedy-adventure for Sony Animation slated for a July 2020 release. His next studio project is an adaptation of the Newbery Award Winning book, The Girl Who Drank the Moon. Marc is incredibly grateful for this amazing transition in his life and all of these meaningful creative collaborations. He is always excited to meet and speak with young, upcoming filmmakers.
