Brandon Dickerson

writer/director Sironia, Victor, Amanda & Jack Go Glamping; writer Benji the Dove; director A Single Frame

BRANDON DICKERSON is an award-winning writer/director honored for his work in features, commercials, and music videos—including the coveted Cannes Gold Lion. Turning his focus to writing and directing feature films, Dickerson has been at the helm of four features in the last seven years. His debut feature SIRONIA won the audience award at the Austin Film Festival before he dove into the film VICTOR,  followed by A SINGLE FRAME, and the quirky romantic comedy AMANDA & JACK GO GLAMPING.

SIRONIA tells the story of a talented singer-songwriter who, after being chewed up and spit out by the Hollywood music machine, moves with his pregnant wife to small-town Sironia, Texas to find a more authentic life.  The film ran a theatrical tour through cities across the U.S. and was released digitally and on DVD through Film Buff in the fall of 2012.

Based on a true story, Dickerson’s sophomore feature film, VICTOR, tells the journey of a migrant teen from Puerto Rico who is forced to survive the dark streets of 1962 Brooklyn. Enslaved by the power of gangs and the addiction of heroin, he must find freedom before he destroys his family and himself. After  a limited theatrical release, VICTOR is now available on NETFLIX

Dickerson’s A SINGLE FRAME, was filmed in Paris, Kosovo, Croatia, New York, Boston, and Austin.  The documentary feature film follows a photograph taken in 1998 by a glamorous and daring French photojournalist that sparked a quest for an inquisitive Texas father who ultimately finds himself riding shotgun beside a clever wartime fixer in Kosovo in hopes of finding the refugee boy from the picture. The film won the Heart of Film Audience Award at it’s Austin Film Festival Premiere and is now on Amazon + iTunes.

AMANDA & JACK GO GLAMPING finds Brandon back at writing+directing more upbeat comedic fare of a personal nature. GLAMPING was shot almost entirely at Dickerson’s tiny-living homestead “Green Acres” outside of Austin, TX where his fish-out-of-water move to the country and creating a boutique glamping retreat (as well as purchasing a miniature donkey for $20 on craigslist) inspired his blog: www.storiesaboutmyass.com

Brandon wrote the script in his 1955 Spartan Mansion “home” about a dejected one-hit-author Jack Spencer (David Arquette, Never Been Kissed) who goes “glamping” with his wife, Amanda (Amy Acker, Marvel’s “The Gifted"), in search of a spark. When the isolated retreat suddenly becomes anything but private with the arrival of double booking honeymoon hipsters and a super-hunk landowner (Designated Survivor’s Adan Canto), Jack must learn to get over himself as he dives deep off the grid into a comedic exploration of love, failure, relevance, and miniature donkeys. Academy Award® nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) also stars.
